Tech Plan and Reflection

Reflection: A school technoltech_plan2.jpgogy plan is an important entity that pertain to purchasing and upgrading technology. I felt that it was important to start one, especially with the increase of new technologies that are coming through our classrooms. As a Technology Facilitator, this was one task that I wanted to tackle. I was able to work with my Principal and Media Specialist to gain information about the acquisitions, budgets for technology, whose responsible for purchasing what specific items, what's new in emerging technologies and what would be our next step after the Nooks and Dell Laptops run its course. All these and more were critical suggestion discussed throughout this learning experience.

First during this journey, I knew I could not do this alone. In order to complete this plan effective, our school needed funding, constant communication with the Media Specialist, Principal and Technology Director, which is very important. I needed assess to the District's Tech Plan, as well as, the State's Plan. There, I was able to obtain the vision and mission statements, acquisitions and budgets. Secondly, I created a teachers' survey for feedback about specific hardware and software used in their classrooms, that was very helpful. This was good information to have, I will do this yearly. Lastly, I was able to gain clarity about each piece of equipment, such as, equipment ownership (local/district), whose responsible for the upgrade, what needs are being meet, what and where are the problems, tracking those problems and do we need to replace or add. If a tech plan is in place then any school would be ready and prepare for the next phase or change, if funds are available. This task is not over yet, there is more work to be done and more questions to ask, but we have started something that will have a positive impact for our school and the district (for future references).
